1.

So I just glanced sideways and these words caught my eye:
the hours dissolve.
Somewhere in the junkmail on my bookshelf.
I panicked. I thought: YES. YOU ARE RIGHT. THE HOURS DO DISSOLVE. I MUST UPDATE MY BLOG!
And therefore, here I am.
It’s been so long!
I feel overwhelmed and shy. I feel like a cold day practising piano: everything stilted and uncertain.

Hi, I've just recently read
The Betrayal of Bindy Mackenzie and I have to say it was so I good that I had finished it in one day.
I found Anthony (the brother) quite an interesting character and was hoping to have learnt more about him.
It was a great book, I might just pick up your other ones soon.
:D

hello!
i'm happy i have somewhere to write. i rarely get a chance to contact authors and sometimes i'm just dying to ask them questions!

anyway i've just finished 'listen taylor' and i really liked it, although i think my favourite one is 'bindy'.
i do love all of them though!

so i was sitting on the bus and thinking about which writers i admire most and who make me want to write.
and i thought of you and arundhati roy and kiran desai and roberta taylor.

there are more but i think that there are books that make me really happy to read and books that make me want to write.
the second list is not so big but your books are definately able to do both :)

i need to buy 'buttermilk pancakes' cos there is no chance of there being any in any of the london libraries - i've checked.
so i'll have to amazon it or something, but i feel like i should have read that before 'listen'. i dunno.

anyhow must go now, as i went and bought 10 bottles of shampoo cos they were on offer and our stocks are running low at home.
(sorry for boring you with that.)

thank you for your lovely books!

Thank you so much for all the lovely 'welcome back' messages. They make me feel very welcome. And thank you for your message, sabiya, 10 bottles of shampoo is a lot but great that they were on sale. Not boring at all. And you did not have to have read 'buttermilk pancakes' before 'Listen Taylor', in FACT, they are more or less the same book. The 'Listen Taylor' book is just a slightly different version of the 'buttermilk pancakes' book, but with more about Listen Taylor - so don't go to any effort to find 'buttermilk pancakes' unless you are interested in the slight variations. Sorry about the confusion. Thanks again to everybody, and soon I will update the blog again. Maybe tomorrow. love, Jaclyn

hi I love your books and I am pretty sure I have read all of them thousands of times (my favorite being 'The Betrayal of Bindy Mackenzie'). Ilove how characters from your books mix between books because you can see other characters interpretations of each other. You are a great author and give me great inspiration

i think i have to read 'buttermilk pancakes' because i've known about that book for a very long time and i just couldn't find it anywhere in london.

it's the title, there's something special about it.

and i have a childhood story! once when i was small, these cousins came to our house and the woman told me that she was my real mother!
she said that she found me in a pumpkin when i was small but then she gave me away to my mum.

i felt confused for a while.

Jaclyn,
I have a few childhood stories I could share. One is when I was little I dressed-up my friend to make her look like a clown. It was so much fun! Another is that my same friend and I were asking for donations and on our way back we saw a snake on the side walk that I just stepped over! I learned it was there because she screamed when she saw it. She was stepping over it then, by accident, she poked it with her umbrella We ran back to her mom as fast as we could.
These are both true, but probably not that good. Since you are a full time writer. Could you tell any storie like this, but better?

A MESSAGE OF APPRECIATION AND A REQUEST

The first book of yours I read was Feeling Sorry for Celia and really, it was three firsts in total — the first time I’d paid money for a book nobody had recommended to me and the first time I’d picked up a book in a store that made me laugh out loud then and there.

I love the stories you tell. Thankyou for sharing them with us.

Hi.

One day I’d like to introduce myself as a writer but for the moment I’m just a student. This semester we’ve been asked to write about a writer and their experiences within the Australian publishing industry. I would really like to write about you.

Would it be possible for me to send a few questions your way — via the magic of cyber space?

I wasn't sure of the best way to contact you but I do read this blog - and really enjoy your postings.

yes, the new book is going to be called Dreaming of Amelia (in Australia and the UK) but will be called The Ghosts of Ashbury High in the US and Canada. And it's coming out in Australia in November 2009 and everywhere else next year. I'll find out exactly when soon. I'll make a proper announcement. Soon I will have a real website! Thanks for asking and I'm glad you like the title.

i'm jealous of australia and the uk... they get shadowgirl just in time for the holidays! :) maybe i will find one with just about $5 million in shipping. haha, anyway.

i'm a big fan! i'm kind of embarassed to say that i first read the year of secret assignments because it had a smiley face on the cover... oh well, i got lucky and loved it!

i don't know if that counts as a childhood story... i did once give a boy a package of oatmeal for valentine's day. i never to this day heard his reaction. <3
